SET–UP CHECKLIST FOR DIGITRAX–POWERED FREE–MO LAYOUT
Design layout, inserting template modules, within the space available.
Determine where to place power supply and DCS100.
Determine where to place 12v power supply to Loconet. Remembering that one 12v power supply used for a maximum of 10, UP5 panels.
Determine where to place power supply for Infrared masts –UR90. Should they be needed for the chosen layout plan and determine their position.
Identify modules with UP5 panels.
Identify temporary TELCO jack positions.
Set out Loconet cabling for best routing (10 UP5’s).
Check all common wire connections (blue) piggybacked to Loconet cables.
DO NOT connect auxiliary power from “BUS” to UP5’s.
Set up, level and bolt module sets together. NO cabling to be connected yet. Suggest that we work in pairs.
NO TRAINS MAY BE RUN ON LAYOUT UNTIL THE ALL CLEAR ANNOUNCEMENT IS GIVEN.
Place DCS100 and other power supplies in their positions, for best connection. DO NOT connect equipment to mains yet.
Run the LOCONET cables to UP5 panels connecting in a daisy chain fashion.(N.B. max 10.) Telco jacks to be connected in approved fashion, jack number 5, on UP5. The BLUE common for Loconet power should now also be connected.
Connect the power “BUS” one module at a time. Only one person to do this. Make absolutely sure that each “A” and “B” wire is connected correctly.
An independent second member should perform a check on each module, for the correct “A” and “B” connectivity, using a Multimeter and a test cable.
Designated Digitrax operator to perform test with a Locomotive on one module, to verify that the system is good.
Once all the various tests have been performed and deemed to be OK. Only then may a single Locomotive be run end to end through the main line.
If the all clear is given by the Designated Digitrax operator at this point, then he may announce “WE ARE UP AND RUNNING”.
